Full-time Emergency Medical Technician

Location: Bottineau, ND for Bottineau Ambulance Service (BAS)

Salary: $12 - $15 DOE (depending on experience). A benefit package is available to include, single policy BC/BS; holiday, annual and sick leave

Closing Date: Screening of candidates will begin November 15, 2011 and will continue until a suitable candidate is hired.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires North Dakota licensure as an EMT and certification with the NREMT’s.

Must successfully complete an interview, standard background and criminal record check.

Job Summary:

Under general supervision of the Executive Board, this position will provide basic, intermediate or advanced level emergency and non-emergency care to the ill and injured. This will include assessment of illness and/or injury, management of such patients, preparation for transport, transfer of patient information and transfer of patient care, in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and Service protocols.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Must possess and apply knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties of an EMT-B/I/P in a dignified and compassionate manner, including but not limited to:

Responding to an emergency efficiently and promptly;

Administering life support to patients at scene and enroute to facility, according to the aforementioned laws, regulations and policies;

Assessing the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed;

Effectively communicating with medical personnel, dispatchers, law enforcement and fire department, to obtain the best possible outcome of patient care including arrival at the appropriate facility in a timely manner;

Be a team player, as EMS is a team effort. Individuals must work well with current EMS volunteers and report to the Executive Board;

Handle self in a courteous, helpful, dignified and professional manner at all times when dealing with patients, co-workers, supervisors and the public;

Conduct a daily check of the rigs, according to checklist, to assure the serviceability and compliance with safety, infection control regulations and standards;

Ensure that rigs are kept clean, inside and outside;

Stock rigs with materials/supplies per current Squad and Health Department regulations;

Maintain inventory of supplies;

Maintain inventory and upkeep of AED’s that are in the Community

Maintain inventory of BAS supplies at the Community Arena and Dakota College at Bottineau;

Custodial duties, including, but not limited to vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, kitchen, supply rooms and sweeping and maintaining the Bay area and taking out garbage;

Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
